Bright Futures is a tutoring service designed especially to meet the basic needs of students between the ages of 8 and 14. Each student is taught by professionally qualified, police-vetted teachers and teaching assistants in the areas of Mathematics and English through small-group teaching, offering a secure learning environment that will build up self-esteem. Courses cover issues such as phonics, spelling, reading and numeracy.

Bright Futures is designed to help build a strong educational foundation for each child and progress their understanding at their own learning pace. No matter what the student's educational level, we aim to meet their educational needs from the outset, whether they just require a 'boost' in a specific subject or are struggling to cope with basic skills.

At the Bright Futures Tutorial Centre, we endeavour to help all children reach their full potential.

A Personal Statement from Sue Kirby, C.Ed, founder of Bright Futures.

As a Personal Tutor in Hertfordshire for many years, I have always wanted to help children who have for one reason or another missed an important lesson or couldn't grasp a concept such as fractions. I empathise with the loss of confidence this can bring and my aim at Bright Futures is to help each child feel a part of a small team that provides encouragement at every step.

During my 20+ year teaching career, I have had a wide and varied experience teaching children of all abilities, stretching across the age ranges from Year 1 to Year 9. For the past four years I have been in post as a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo), planning and assessing children who needed extra help with their education.

I have set up and run a School Council, organised and chaired a 'Teaching Assistants Conference' for twenty six TA's, passed my New Opportunity Fund (NOF) training in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), reached Government Threshold Status, and represented my teaching colleagues on a School Governing Body. In addition, I have kept abreast of current thinking, legislation, innovations and developments in teaching through professional courses and educational journals.

But most importantly of all, I have always taken a deep, personal interest in all my pupils, and Bright Futures is my vision for guiding and nurturing all those who need help.
