Acre Hall achieves Artsmark Gold standard

Congratulations to Acre Hall Primary School which has achieved the prestigious Arts Council Artsmark Gold Level Award, recognising both the raised profile of the arts across the school and the hard work of both students and staff during the past three years.

Acre Hall has continued to strive for excellence in the arts, adapting practice to facilitate the ever-increasing demand for a creative curriculum and developing wider cultural capital for its pupils. Staff have continued to deliver high-quality arts experiences, diversifying projects, concerts, and exhibitions to meet the changing demands of our times. Arts Ambassadors have worked within the community, across both schools and classes to develop art pedagogy, practice, and talents. Opportunities have been provided to widen interest and understanding into art establishments within the wider community, with the hope of providing further career opportunities and inclusivity for all. Art leadership has ensured the rise in numbers of Art Awards obtained in school and this is continuing to rise.

Feedback provided by Artsmark included:

“You clearly link arts and culture to wider learning opportunities for children so that they can apply their arts learning in a wider context via trips and across subjects.”

And:

“Artsmark is clearly outlined in the development or improvement plan, and all teaching staff understand the ambitions for arts and culture and are engaged in developing these across the whole setting.”

Colin Catherall, Head of School at Acre Hall, commented: “I would really like to thank Laura Tomlinson, the teacher who led this project with great passion and desire to raise the profile of art in our school. I am delighted to see how this has enhanced the quality of education for all children here at Acre Hall by providing valuable experiences and opportunities for them to explore and develop a wider range of skills and ignite the multiple intelligences that exist in us all.”

Acre Hall is now striving for further artistic development and extra-curricular activities for the school, providing inhouse opportunities for children to meet local artists across Manchester in their mixed-aged after-school Arts Club.
