Celebrating Double Teaching Hub Success!

Bright Futures Educational Trust is delighted to announce that their bids to launch two brand new Teaching School Hubs have been formally approved by the Department for Education. The bids were led by the Alliance for Learning Teaching School at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls.

Serving two Hub areas in Greater Manchester: (LWY6 – 291) Manchester & Stockport and (LWY8 – 192) Salford & Trafford, the Teaching School Hubs will play a key role in leading and coordinating high quality school improvement activities to teachers at all stages of their careers. The Teaching School Hub programme has created a national network of 87 centres of excellence for teacher training and development, replacing the previous network of around 750 teaching schools.

Lisa Fathers, Director of Teaching School Hubs & Partnerships at Bright Futures said; “We are delighted to have been selected to lead on two of these exciting new Hubs. This fundamental change will require new ways of working, as well as building on the success of the existing system of teaching schools, curriculum hubs and research schools”.

CEO of Bright Futures Educational Trust John Stephens stated: “The development of our Teaching School Hubs is a fantastic opportunity for us to build on our existing partnerships and to work at scale across the school system.

“Deep collaboration, professional generosity, integrity and passion drive school and individual  development, with children, young people, families and communities always at the heart of our work. These core values will determine how our new hubs will work”.

Lisa added “I am confident that colleagues and partners who have or haven’t worked with us before through the Alliance for Learning Teaching School will want to engage positively with our new Hubs.  We are committed to building a collaborative, strong, sustainable network that will be inclusive as well as ground-breaking and ambitious. We have worked extensively with schools and MATs in these areas and know the landscape well – colleagues can rest assured the spirit of collaboration and a system-led school improvement model will continue to flourish through the new Hubs.”

The two new teaching school hubs will work across Greater Manchester to intelligently to build on and bring together all the good practice that already exists, making collaboration more structured and celebrate all the work already going on in the region. There is an incredible amount of expertise in the region which will be harnessed. The new hubs will provide strategic oversight to leadership continuing professional development, the National Professional Qualifications, the Early Career Teacher Framework and we will act as an appropriate body for our hub areas.

The Alliance for Learning also will continue to provide a range of school improvement work from providing initial teacher training to the huge range of mental health and wellbeing CPD and the bespoke coaching programmes and these offers are open to schools and trusts both in and out of the hub areas.
