Author launches Elmridge’s new-look library

Top-rated children’s author and storyteller, Fay Evans, visited Elmridge Primary School to officially open the school’s brand-new library. Fay also presented a fun and interactive school assembly featuring a reading of her best-selling rhyming picture book ‘Fred The Fire-Sneezing Dragon’. Fay also shared the inspiring story of how she became a children’s author.

Head of School, Mrs Bolton, said: “It was amazing to have Fay with us, we had a great morning. Our new-look library is having such a positive impact on pupils who enjoy reading a range of books across a diverse set of genres, topics and cultures. The reading journey begins with teaching children to become confident and passionate readers in our Early Years setting where they are taught to read through phonics lessons and activities, exposure to the world of story books, as well as whole-class, independent and one-to-one reading sessions which are supported with parents/carers and families at home.”
