Bright Futures appoints Lisa Fathers as Chief Executive Officer (Interim)

Bright Futures Educational Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Lisa Fathers as Chief Executive Officer (Interim).

An accomplished executive leader, Lisa previously served as Deputy CEO of Bright Futures Educational Trust, where she oversaw sustained growth, led the transformation of school improvement, and played a pivotal role in the trust’s development. Her leadership has made a significant contribution to the thriving organisation it is today.

With 30 years’ experience in education, Lisa has made a substantial contribution to the sector, with her work recognised both locally and nationally. She has also given generously through a range of governance roles, including serving as Chair of Trustees for another multi-academy trust and chairing a national wellbeing board during the pandemic for the Well Schools Movement. Lisa has recently been elected to the Teaching School Hub Council, working closely with fellow CEOs, system leaders and Department for Education colleagues. She is also a member of the Greater Manchester Mayoral Reform Board and the Greater Manchester Learning Partnership Executive Group.

Reflecting on her new role, Lisa said:

“I am immensely humbled and proud to take on this position. My priority is to ensure every child at Bright Futures flourishes and reaches their full potential. We want our children to enjoy school, thrive academically, explore the arts and sport, feel a true sense of belonging, and be set up for a happy and successful life.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside such dedicated colleagues, who put our children at the heart of every decision. It is the hard work of our people that transforms the lives of our children. Alongside excellent outcomes, enrichment opportunities, and high-quality careers education, I am passionate about our outward-facing work as a Trust and look forward to making an even greater impact on more children and communities.”

Lisa’s appointment comes at a milestone moment, celebrating 15 years of Bright Futures – a journey defined by collaboration, innovation, and unwavering commitment to children and young people. Looking ahead, Lisa will lead the Trust in driving forward the ambitious strategy launched in January 2025 and continuing to embed a culture of belonging across all areas – schools, central services, and the Professional Development Institute – continuing to ensure a culture where every pupil and colleague feels valued, respected, and connected.

Later this month, Lisa will visit St James’ Palace to receive her OBE for Services to Education, well-deserved recognition of her significant contribution to the education sector.

Please join us in congratulating Lisa on her appointment as CEO (Interim).
