Bright Futures’ early success in the Pearson National Teaching Awards

Jackie Crouch, Assistant Principal at Barton Clough Primary School, has been awarded ‘Bronze’ in the Pearson National Teaching Awards, in the ‘Unsung Hero’ category.

Jonny Foster-Carr, Principal at Barton Clough, said: “We are so proud of Jackie who thoroughly deserves this award. At school, Jackie leads on play, attendance and mental health, as well as teaching Year 1. She goes beyond the universal offer for children and families and standing still is never an option. Jackie is the key point of contact for pastoral work at Barton Clough too and has developed meaningful relationships with many agencies who she uses to support our children and families. Jackie’s care, passion and drive to help everyone ensures she goes above and beyond her daily tasks, she simply wants to help people and is driven by equality.”

And the good news doesn’t stop there! Sam Collard, Teacher of Dance, PE and Maths at Cedar Mount Academy is a shortlisted finalist in the ‘Outstanding New Teacher of the Year’ category in the same awards.

Sarah Schollar, Executive Leader at Cedar Mount Academy, said: “We are so happy that Sam has been recognised in this way. He joined Cedar Mount at the start of this academic year and is a second-year Early Career Teacher (ECT), teaching Dance, PE and Maths. With an abundance of charisma and magnetism, Sam has quickly become a favourite among students, who absolutely love his lessons.

“Sam has completely transformed the subject of Dance and has worked hard to develop the curriculum while adapting his lessons to provide a fully inclusive environment. He brings the same energy and enthusiasm to Maths, making the subject engaging and fun through his expressive teaching style. Sam has also taken on the role of the school’s Transition Lead, where he visits local primary schools to teach Dance and PE. We all wish Sam the best of luck for judging.”
