Celebrating our students’ GCSE/Level 2 and wider results

John Stephens, CEO of Bright Futures Educational Trust shares his thoughts on this year’s GCSE/Level 2 and wider results:

It was great to see our Y11 students and parents/carers at AGGS and Cedar Mount today celebrating their GCSE and Level 2 outcomes. There was so much excitement, expressions of friendship and support and anticipation of next steps. At AGGS the celebrations were supported by the presence of the ice cream van – something of a tradition thanks to the Parents’ Association. At Cedar there was a Hollywood style ‘red’ carpet (in Cedar green!) with a fantastic balloon arch making some joyful photographs.

Altrincham Grammar School for Girls
40% of all entries achieved the very top grade of 9 and 86% of all results were graded at 7 or above. 97% of students achieved the English Baccalaureate, achieving GCSE passes in English language and literature, mathematics, the sciences, geography or history, and a language.

A phenomenal 54 students achieved grade 8 or above in all of their examinations and 113 students passed all 9 subjects at grade 7 or above. A remarkable 14 students achieved grade 9 in all their subjects.

Cedar Mount Academy
At Cedar Mount students achieved some really promising improvements. This is particularly pleasing given that overall results nationally are ‘flat’ this year. Grade 4+ English and Maths combined is 46.46%, up 6.8 percentage points on 2024. 5+ English and Maths is 29.8%, up 6.2 percentage points on 2024 (23.6%). There were also some great individual results and significantly improved performance in a number of subjects.

Strong and improving outcomes are the result of incredible efforts, dedication and support by students themselves, teachers, associate staff, parents, carers and families.

Melland High School
Our Year 11s at Melland took a suite of valuable qualifications this year and have performed so well in City and Guilds and vocational qualifications. We congratulate them on their outcomes, supported, as ever by highly specialised colleagues and a bespoke curriculum that prioritises high aspirations for all. We are delighted that our students are able to start their next steps with confidence, building on their successes.
