Paid Undergraduate Internship Scheme

This programme is led by Altrincham Grammar School for Girls (outstanding) and is aimed at undergraduate students who are currently studying STEM or STEM related subjects, and who are considering a career in teaching. Internships will take place in schools across Greater Manchester.

Students will get the chance to observe and learn from outstanding classroom practitioners and run small intervention groups, workshops and projects to see if teaching really is the career for them.

Programme Structure

The internship programme will take place in Manchester schools for a 3 week period from 17th June to 7th July 2025. 

Interns will receive:

  • Teaching experience and training from outstanding subject mentors
  • Support with their teacher training application during their final year
  • A guaranteed  interview should they apply for our teacher training programme
  • A bursary payment of £425 per week

Whilst on placement, you can expect to:

  • Support the class teacher as a Teaching Assistant 
  • Run intervention groups 
  • Develop teaching resources 
  • Support school trips/clubs/activities
  • Team teach one full lesson at some point during the internship.
