Bright Futures Educational Trust was pleased to welcome Vicky Beer CBE, DfE’s Regional Director for the North West, for a special visit on Tuesday 28 April. This marked one of her final engagements before retiring from the role.

The visit brought together students, staff and leaders from across the Trust to celebrate Vicky’s contribution to education in the region and beyond, while also showcasing the achievements and aspirations of Bright Futures schools.
The programme took place at Cedar Mount Academy, where Vicky met senior leaders and heard about the school’s recent progress and current priorities. A key moment of the visit was a meeting with the Cedar Mount Young Leaders. Students shared their leadership experiences and outlined their priorities for the future of education. This provided an opportunity for meaningful discussion about the importance of student voice in shaping school improvement.
Lisa Fathers OBE, Chief Executive Officer (Interim) at Bright Futures, said: “It was a privilege to welcome Vicky to Cedar Mount Academy. Her contribution to education across the North West and beyond has been significant, and we were proud to celebrate her work with our students and staff. The visit also highlighted the exceptional practice and ambition across Bright Futures.”
Vicky Beer said: “It has been a privilege to work with schools and leaders across the region. Visiting Cedar Mount Academy was a fitting way to reflect on the dedication, creativity and commitment shown by staff and students.”
The visit was warmly welcomed by students and staff, who valued the opportunity to engage with Vicky and to share their work and aspirations for the future.
